Panel automation.
Panel squaring, sewing, and staging that feeds the border and tape edge stations.
The panel category
What panel preparation does.
Panel work prepares the quilted top and bottom panels of a mattress: squaring them to a true rectangle, sewing edge treatments and flange, trimming to a finished size, and staging them for the border and tape edge stations. It is quiet, upstream work, and it is where consistency is either established or lost, because every station after it assumes the panel it receives is square and to size.
The equipment includes panel squaring and cutting stations, flanging machines that sew a fabric flange to the panel edge for the tape edge station to grip, and combination units that square, sew, and stage in one indexed flow. Machines differ by the panel sizes and quilt thicknesses they handle, whether they flange as well as square, and how much operator handling they remove from the step.
Panel preparation sits near the front of the assembly line, feeding the border and tape edge stations, so its output rate and squareness set the pace and quality ceiling for the finished mattress. Choosing panel equipment means weighing whether you need squaring alone or squaring plus flanging, the quilt thickness and size range you run, and how the staged panel hands off to the stations it feeds.

Choosing a machine
How to choose a panel station.
The variables that decide which station fits your line. Tell us where you land on each and we will point you to the right machine.
- Operations combined
Squaring alone, or squaring plus flanging and staging in one flow.
- Panel range
The panel sizes and quilt thicknesses the station handles.
- Squareness
The tolerance held, since every downstream station assumes a true panel.
- Staging
How the finished panel is staged and handed to the border and tape edge stations.
